Okey doke. I guess I’m not allowed to watch the World Series. Or if I do, the general consensus asks that I root for the Rockies. Aye Aye guys!
I’ve had a very stressful couple of days. Let me start at the beginning…Friday night…
As we all know a friend of mine had a tequila night planned for us. Woot. My understanding was that she and her boyfriend would join me around 6:30 and we’d hang out until Husband got home and then decide what we wanted to do from there. Let me just say, I wish that’s how my evening went.
I got a text from my friend right before I left work on Friday saying that they wouldn’t be over until 9:30. That just made me sad because it meant I had to find a way to entertain myself for 4 hours. And I sure as hell didn’t want to be crazy drunk before they got there.
So I waited…and waited…and waited. Around 9:30 I still hadn’t heard from my husband (who usually calls by then to say he’s on his way home) or my friends.
At 9:40 my husband called. He’d been pulled over on his way to drop his deposit at the bank. I’m already upset that he got pulled over b/c we really don’t have the means for the expense of a ticket. I got even more upset when he told me why he was pulled over.
He works in the hickest town in good ol NC. And if you know anything about the hicks in NC you know that they eat, sleep, and breathe Nascar. Well the town in which my husband works just happens to be the hometown of one of Nascar’s legends and the town was having a Nascar celebration that weekend.
The cops had closed down Main street and set up a detour. My husband followed the detour and it prompted him to cross over Main street. So he did and he was pulled over. There was no road block, nothing. He was following the detour.
The cop informed my husband that he was driving on a closed street, did he not see the barricade? (now keep in mind, husband just crossed over the street, he wasn’t driving on that street for more than 3 seconds.)
The cop issued my husband a ticket totaling $220. My husband then noticed that a barricade went up behind him and asked the officer how he was supposed to get out of there. The officer told him to drive further down Main street (yeah that street that’s barricaded) and turn on a certain street. My husband still had not made his deposit and kindly asked the officer to escort him to the bank since there was no possible way of getting there without parking the car and walking 30-50 feet. The officer told him “No, you’ll be fine” and left.
So when my husband finally got home, he was livid and began to take his frustration out on Tiger. Our friends also showed up around the time my husband got home and we proceeded to have an entertaining evening, yes with tequila.
Until we got two personal family calls that were devastating and not possible for me to go into. No one died, so don’t worry.
The next day we tried to speak to the Chief of Police about the citation and the officer’s behavior but, “The Chief [was] caught up in the day’s festivities and wouldn’t be able to return [our] call until Monday”
He did return our call and has asked my husband to write a statement. Basically this will get thrown out due to the barricade not being in place and the officer’s behavior. So, YAY!
But then Saturday night I threw my back out. I was incapacitated all day Sunday. And Monday I got all the way to work before realizing I left my parking pass in the other car and had to turn around, go home, and get it.
So the past couple of days have sucked…I hope my week starts to get better soon.
*kisses*
Boo! I too hope that your week gets better! And I hope that everything is OK surrounding the calls you got on Saturday.
Did you ever get that tequila? Maybe you need it now – lol!
I meant Friday…
Oh no! I’m glad you got the ticket appealed. And I hope you feel better. You should have a margarita party this Friday with the tequila. Lol, we can toast each other from different cities!
Hopefully the stupid ticket gets thrown out and you have a much better week!!!
I’m glad he was able to get out of the ticket. That is definitely good news.
oh, i forgot to tell you, in response to your response on my blog, i grew up in Raleigh. and i’ve worked for Memorial Aud. and i love NC!
Omigod, you poor thing. Here’s to everything starting to look up!
Da-yum! That ticket story is utterly ridiculous. The irony being that they are celebrating reckless driving.
Hope your back is feeling better!
I’m sorry that I passed my shitty luck from last week on to you. If it makes you feel any better, this week is much better. And so, if you can stick it out until Monday, you will be in good shape 🙂
Oh blah. I hate when multiple bad things happen in a row. At least tomorrow is Wednesday and that’s always good because you’re much closer to Friday!
And the cop couldn’t speak with you because he was caught up in the Nascar festivities? I thought where I’m from was Hicksville, USA…wow!
I’m glad you were able to fix the ticket. I hate rude cops.
Something is a little off kilter in the universe lately, no? Hope things look up. 🙂
