My office unfortunately houses a communal printer.
I’d say the breakdown of usage for this printer is as follows:
5% by me
5% by most faculty/students/etc
90% by one specific faculty person
That’s fine. It truly is, b/c what’s the point of a communal printer if people don’t utilize it?
Here’s what irks me; my office is not communal. If my door is slightly ajar it’s probably b/c I’d like a little privacy (most likely due to stuffing my face full of delicious lunch) but am aware that you might still need to utilize the communal printer located in my office.
By no means should you ever barge through my slightly ajar office door pushing it all the way open, without knocking, collect your printing and then turn around and leave without properly pulling my door back to the position at which you first encountered it.
It’s rude and disrespectful and just further proves to me that you view my position in life (and in this office) as inferior to yours.
So thanks for that.
