Oooh, free money?

- New Ozzy Banner! I’m sorry I’ve been late the past two months but I should be on time for June and July since I already have some ideas in mind. And I actually have July’s head piece. Score!
- For the past couple of paychecks my husband and I have noticed that our online banking statement shows we have more money than our check register. I know that most people would think, ‘Sweet, money!’ but I had to figure it out. I finally sat down last night with the past two statements and a highlighter and went to town. After about 30 minutes I found the glitch. Because some bills need to be paid by check or in one lump sum my husband and I put aside a certain amount each paycheck and label it ‘holding’, that way we can go ahead and subtract it and we’re good about not spending it. When the next paycheck comes in or it’s time to pay that bill we take it out of holding, add it back into our checking account and either pay the bill or set aside a larger amount as holding for the next week. Well, last month when we went to Louisiana I set aside $30.67 for our Time Warner Cable Bill. And it never got taken out of it’s holding state, even though we’ve since paid our TWC bill. I can’t for the life of me figure out why we weren’t flipping out about not having that money, but the fact of the matter is, now we have a paid TWC bill and $30 extra in our checking account!
- Did any of that make sense or is it just showcasing how insane my husband and I are about our bills?
- I know I’ll be even happier with having extra money in my bank account when that damn tax rebate comes in! Why did we choose this year of all years to not select direct deposit? Bah!
- My birthday? Is in 4 days. I’ve been surprisingly calm about it so far but my body on the other hand is trying to tell me that I am not, in fact, calm about turning 25. All this week I’ve been lethargic, tired, cranky, my stomach has been in knots, etc. I’ve always been excited about my birthdays, this one is no exception, but it’s starting to be really difficult to be excited about something that is causing me so much duress leading up to it.
*kisses*

You do your bills the same way I do…it’s crazy but makes sense all at the same time. Lol.
Yay birthday time!!! You should be excited, maybe you’re nervous about Blogcon and taking your hubby to NY as opposed to the fact you’re turning 25?
And LOVE the new banner, it’s pretty. Then again I’m a purple person
P.S. What’s going down for both of your B.days this year?
Aww, I felt the same way when I was turning 25. I always say that I could have been 21 forever.
26 was a more tramatic birthday for me. It was the birthday that threw me directly in the path of 30. At 25 I was still early 20s. Not so much at 26.
BTW, I need a hair picture because I just can’t picture what you describe on the short layer. It is kind of scary for me to imagine and I am pretty sure you don’t have a crazy looking head of hair.
I love free money!! When my extra check came in, it all went to bills. How depressing is THAT?!
Don’t stress the bday - its gonna be wonderful, and hopefully all the illnesses/stresses leading up to it will be forgotten! Enjoy celebrating this weekend
First of all, what’s up with these new WordPress avatar color things? They’re pretty, but where did they come from?
And secondly, yay for free monies! Of course, I am still 24, in school, and what? Can still be claimed by my parents? But they don’t give me anything? Doesn’t matter?! Nope. I don’t get no free monies
That has caused me much stress lately.
It’s great that you guys keep such tight control over your budget. And I agree with you on the tax rebate. I used TurboTax and we have to wait two weeks. Boo.
25 was not as scary as I thought it would be. In fact, it’s been kind of awesome
I haven’t gotten my tax rebate yet either. I’m dying about it!
25 is good. enjoy it.
and free money? it’s like an early birthday gift!
If it makes you feel better, I did direct deposit for my rebate and have yet to get it. So, it’s not like that was the magic gem to speed up the process. Sigh.
It’s time to have a conversation with yourself about getting older. Because you know what? You’ve (hopefully) got quite a few more birthdays coming up over the years and you just have to get used to them. It’s not something to be sad about … so long as you are living your life without regrets!
WOW but you are organized with the checking!
Though I say that having just balanced my account, and having come up with a $0.67 discrepancy (apparently I was tired last time…

As a former bank worker, I can tell you for a fact, that if there is extra cash in your account, you want to figure out why ASAP. Because if the bank mistakenly added money to your account, THEY WILL FIND OUT. It might not be right away, but they will and if you’ve gone spending that money, you’ll have to pay it back.
I’m just has anal as you are when it comes to money(thankfully my BF has indicated I will be the money manager when we get married) every single penny is budgeted.
I did a post of the tax rebate checks and Direct deposit. I did DD, but turns out because I used one of those H&R block thingys, I’ll be getting a paper check. It sucks big time since I’m got laid off recently.
Anyway, any big plans for the B’day?
Don’t worry I am a total freak about my bills too, highlighters, folders, the works, I can’t function otherwise, haha.
And yay for birthdays! No need to freak out, 25 sounds so awesome
I hope you get something fun for your birthday. I love birthday’s.
happy almost birthday! (taurus too?) 25 wasn’t so bad! love your new banner.
Love the new banner
Seriously,
Rebate checks need to come!!
And that is why I let my husband handle the bills. I used to be incredibly anal about my bills and wrote EVERYTHING down in my register… but balancing his expenses and mine got to be too much.
It was so freeing to let that go!
And happy birthday in advance…
