I’m sorry, how old?
May 5, 2008 by littlespoon
In a week I’m turning 25. Wow.
One of my coworkers told me not to think of how I’m going to be a quarter of a century old but to think of all I’ve accomplished in the past 25 years and how much more I’ll accomplish in the next 25. I think that’s a pretty good way to look at this impending birthday so I’m going to take that advice and look at what I have indeed accomplished in the past 25 years and make a list of the things I hope to accomplish in the next 25.
- I was born. A feat in itself.
- I learned to walk.
- I learned to talk…and haven’t looked back since!
- Learning to talk led to learning to sing.
- I learned to drive.
- I graduated high school.
- I survived my 21st birthday. And that wasn’t easy.
- I graduated college.
- I fell into debt.
- I’ve become an adult, an adult with a cleaning schedule.
- I’ve had and excelled at 3 adult jobs.
- I’ve adopted two puppies who needed me.
- I met my soul mate.
- I married my soul mate.
- I’ve transitioned into marriage.
- I’ve put myself on a debt pay off schedule.
Things I wish to accomplish in the next 25 years:
- I plan to have two beautiful kids. No more, no less. I told my husband that I don’t plan on being outnumbered.
- I plan to get out of debt completely, except for good debt, of course.
- I plan to buy a house and make it a home.
- I plan to celebrate my 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th and 25th wedding anniversaries.
- I plan to be well on my way to retirement.
- I plan to watch my children grow into wonderful individuals. Because I’ll teach them all of the good values and none of the bad.
- I plan to volunteer at community theatres.
- I plan to be the “cool” mom whose house is always filled with rambunctious children and teenagers.
- I plan to chaperone every field trip my children go on and will be the mom whose group is always requested.
- I plan to live happily ever after.
*kisses*

That is a much better way to look at it
You can definitely help me out come November, and I’m well on my way to freaking out too.
25 isn’t so bad.
ohhhhh…. to be 25………don’t stop at 25 yrs. of marriage…..I am going into my 46th, and still going strong….You make me laugh, always have, and make me so proud…..
What a great list - I want to do so much in the next 25 years, but being the mom that all the kids want to be with on field trips? That is awesome.
25? Psh. Whatever, Trevor.
Anyhoodle, I think I will let someone else be the cool mom. Teenagers are horrible.
I love this post — so much!
I never looked at 25 as a big “milestone”. I think 30 will hit harder. Or maybe even 28, but this is such a kick-ass way to look at it. seems like things can only look up from here on out
great plans! digging yourself out of debt is the most wonderful weight off your shoulders. i hope you get to enjoy that soon!
Sounds like a plan! Ah 25…so young!
What a great post! I have similar plans for the next 25 years, I think.
Awww, 25 isn’t that bad. Really. Plus, you’ve accomplished so much already! Enjoy your place on this earth as you’re making a mark!
You should also add to that list of accomplishments that you organized all your blogs. Omgwow!
25 was a very enlightening year for me, and from the sounds of it, that goes for most 25 year olds.
Methinks this year will treat you fabulously.
Also? The killing debt plan? I am RIGHT there with you. I’m almost done. ALMOST DONE!! By August, I will only have school loans to pay off and my current card. Score.
I love this list. Definitely a great way to look at your birthday
You have some super fabulous goals and some wonderful accomplishments girlie!! I had a giggle at your comment about not wanting to be outnumbered
I think its great that you have a plan to get out of debt. Its so helpful. I was in a massive amount of bad debt but I set up a payment schedule and strictly stuck to it. I got rid of it after a couple of years and it is so freeeeeing!
Happy birthday (in advance). You’ll enjoy 25.
I learned to talk…and haven’t looked back since!
I loved that line!!!
Aww, that’s a cute post. Here’s to many more birthdays!
Happy (early!) birthday!
Dude, 25. You are so young
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! (a bit early, but still - wishing you the best!)
meh, i’ll be 26 in june. sounds like you’ve got some good plans in place for the next 25 years, so good for you!
And don’t forget - you became a rockstar blogger and convention organizer!
