Happy Birthday LittleSpoon!

Tomorrow (January 19) is LittleSpoon’s First Birthday! Let’s take a look back at the things that have happened in this (rather short) year.

LittleSpoon…This is you life!

On January 19, 2007 you came to life. Mostly because I was extremely bored at work and wanted to voice my opinion about certain aspects of my life. I used Blogger, the blogging host my sister uses. Admittedly you began as a shallow site, talking about the 6th season of American Idol and how crazy Tom Cruise can be. We went on as a team trying to convince our readers (my sister and my father) that SNL is still amazing, Dakota Fanning is creepy, and that our puppy is incredibly cute. Since I started my blog so late in the month, January yielded 10 posts and 6 comments. Not a bad little beginning.

In February I posted one very poignant post/question…”Is Britney trying to get back in the game?” I think we all know the answer to that one! February was a slow month, 1 post, 1 comment.

In March I doubled that number, go me! 2 posts, 3 comments! Nothing interesting happened in March.

April is when I began blogging for reals. 19 posts and 48 (!) comments. This was due to my finally realizing that if I want comments, I better find some blogs that I like reading and comment on those! Using the ‘next blog’ button on Blogger I stumbled upon Something Catchier and fell in love with my girl Catchy. She then led me to her sister’s site and the rest is history. Margarita quickly became my IBFF and to this day we still read each other’s sites religiously and are usually the very first commenters! I think April is when I came into my own as a blogger!

May started off kind of rough. My puppy Angus was killed the night of April 30. I still miss him, I’m not sure you ever get over an animal’s death but it’s even harder to get over the death of your first dog. There are still nights I dream about him, still traits I miss about him. But he’s in puppy heaven, b/c all dog’s got to heaven, and he’s happy and I’m sure tearing up an mountain of stuffed pigs.

Also in May, I celebrated my 24th birthday, called shenanigans, had surgery, and started planning my wedding for reals, since the wedding clock began ticking down. In May I wrote 23 posts and received 87 comments!

June was a great month. Mainly because I couldn’t bear life without a dog anymore. On June 20th we adopted Ozzy. The most wonderful little dog you’ll ever meet, not be confused with Angus who was the most wonderful BIG dog you’ll ever meet. Ozzy’s ears alone will make you melt.

June also brought regular Wedding posts, recaps of the best reality show ever, and the summer o’ torture. June had 21 posts and 54 comments.

July brought vacation! It also brought a bridesmaid for her birthday, another bridesmaid for moving day, and Friday the 13th. July was eventful in life happenings but not so much in blog posts. 15 posts and 51 comments.

August was eventful! I started a new job, traveled to NYC and met Margarita, had a bridal shower, celebrated my 100th post and started the official wedding countdown! By the end of August I had written 21 posts and received 89 comments.

I think we all know how September went! Most of September was dedicated to my wedding. My bachelorette party, my rehearsal, wedding prep, ceremony, and the first of many Married Life posts! I also found Molly’s site, my wedding ring broke and began getting a lot more comments. September brought 19 posts and 120 comments.

October was my best month I think. I created an adorable pumpkin, dressed my dog as Batman, posted my very first photo essay, got a case of the after wedding funk, discovered Legally Blonde the musical, let you all in on the fact that I’m a sports curse, and made the switch from Blogger to WordPress. In October I posted 25 times and received 259 comments.

November brought theatre hell, and the Rachel haircut. While November wasn’t full of interesting posts on my part, it was still a great month with 22 posts and 322 comments.

December brought inner cat monologues, a new phone, an ode to my mother, and cartoon mice. And of course, meeting Each! December also brought 20 posts and 337 comments.

So here we are in January 2008. So far LittleSpoon is doing much better this January than she did last January. With 13 posts, my 200th post and 302 comments already, LittleSpoon is getting more and more popular by the day. As much as I don’t care about how many comments I receive, it is nice to have so many readers.

So what does year 2 of LittleSpoon mean? Most importantly for the blog it means BlogCon 08. For the blog writer, it should be an interesting year. This will be my first full year as a married woman. And this will hopefully be the year I start getting myself out of debt and also getting myself into shape.
